Our Story

Friends of Murphy Animal Rescue Society began with one very special cat.

Murphy wasn’t just a pet. He was family. He was the calm in the chaos, the quiet presence that made a house feel like home, and the steady reminder that even small lives can leave a lasting impact. His trust, his quirks, and the way he loved so openly shaped our home in ways we never expected.

When we lost him, the heartbreak was real. But so was the realization that his life represented something bigger. Murphy had safety. He had patience. He had time to be understood and loved. Too many animals never get that chance.

We wanted to honour him in a way that felt meaningful. Not just with memories, but with action. Not just by remembering him, but by creating the same opportunity for other animals who need it.

That’s why we started Friends of Murphy.

Friends of Murphy is built on the belief that animals deserve more than quick solutions. They deserve calm care, thoughtful decisions, and the time it takes to heal and trust again. Inspired by Murphy’s legacy of kindness, our work focuses on rescuing animals in need, providing safe, home-based care, supporting medical recovery, and helping them find permanent homes where they can truly thrive.

Every foster placement, every adoption, and every second chance is a reflection of what Murphy gave us.
